Cristos Birbilis
Hi! My name is Cristos, owner and founder of Polar Bear Swim Club.
I am swimmer, lifeguard, former water polo player, and swim instructor that has been teaching for the past eight years. Starting in high school I learned how to swim through sports such as water polo and swim. However, Renegade Aquatics (Escondido) and Inland Costal Aquatics Club (San Marcos) are the swim programs that taught me the true FUNdamentals of swimming, and the integrity of swimming at a competitive level. I have competed through Palomar College and Open Water Championships. I avidly swim each day, as it continues to be my favorite sport!.

I started as a swim instructor at many swim schools and city programs across San Diego County. I decided to start Polar Bear Swim Club in 2023 to pursue my passion for teaching swimming. I graduated with my Bachelor's in Kinesiology (Movement Science) and Minor in Business at CSUSM. I have always loved swimming and teaching all ages on the basics and competitive level. Over the years I have continued to love my job and teaching others to be water-safe!

Through working for various swim schools, I saw how swim lessons are costly despite the short lesson durations. My goal has always been to provide affordable and quality swim lessons for the community, while assuring my students grow comfortable in the water while prioritizing safety. Understanding the financial struggles and hardships in everyday life is why I offer flexibility - especially for lower-income families. The goal is to deliver lessons and accessibility to all people at an affordable rate.

One-on-One
Swim lesson for one child ($25 for 30 minutes)
Sibling Lessons
Swim lessons for more than one child.
Optional for siblings to share a class together
Price stays the same, 30 minutes is $25 total for both kids. We do not charge per kid!
Adult Lessons
Swim lessons for Adults (18+) ($25 for 30 minutes)

What Happens if I miss a lesson?
Our lesson cancellation policy
Standard: if you cancel within 24 hours of the scheduled lesson, 50% of the payment will be withheld. Before the 24 hours, no fee will be placed.
What is the youngest age you teach?
Youngest we teach is 3 months!
Do you provide home lessons?
Yes, if a parent is willing to have a lesson at their own pool, we are more than okay with providing lessons there!
